Duty
Points system - introduced in 2012
Following
a discussion at the 2011 AGM it was agreed to make changes in 2012 to the
way
that
particular Duty types are measured against the annual commitment.
-
Historically members
were required to sign up for three duties, four for family members if they
wished to receive the 'duty discount' on the annual membership fee.
-
There is also a requirement
that all members attend at least one working party irrespective
of whether they have taken advantage of the Duty Discount.
-
.Many
members do undertake considerably more than the minimum duties and working
parties, and clearly some duties are a lot more demanding than others,
for instance a Wednesday evening duty is likely to be around three hours
whereas a duty all day on a Sunday will be around 7 hours.
-
.It
is also evident that not all members are able to attend working parties
in March but can make duties at a different time of the year..
-
The way forward agreed
for 2012 is that different duties & working parties are allocated
points, the number of points will appear in brackets after the name of
the duty on the 'Dutyman' system where members can select from the range
of duties not yet allocated.
Duty
Points Committment per membership Type
(will be documented
fully in Renewal Papers, but summarised here as)
Single Sailing
Member 12 points
Family Sailing
Member 16 points
Social member
8 points
Example
of how Duty Points can be earned
-
Working Party
undertaken on a Saturday or Sunday between 9.30 -12.30 will 'earn' 2 points
-
Working Party
undertaken on a Saturday or Sunday between 13.00 -16.00 will 'earn'
2 points
-
so anyone signing
up and attending for the whole day would 'earn' 4 points in total,
-
both of these will
appear in Dutyman as 'Working Party (2)'
-
Race officer in
April & October will earn 3 points; in June/July/August when there
may be an afternoon race they will earn 4 points.
-
As the season progresses
we will monitor points earned and allocate unfilled duties accordingly.
-
Events cancelled in
advance will not earn points or if cancelled after members have reported
will earn half points.
-
Anyone not fulfilling
their points target may be required to proportionally repay the duty discount.
