Power Boat Courses 
 
RYA Powerboat Training level 2 course for anyone age 16 and above 

This course is a 2 day course run over consecutive Saturdays. 

At the end of the course the successful student will have completed a formal assessment and be able to handle a boat in familiar waters by day, they will be safety conscious, and have a basic knowledge of power boating 

The syllabus will include both theory and background information on types of craft and engines, weather forecasts, tides and their effects, collision regulations and chartwork, launching and recovery, and the practical sessions will include use of safety equipment and safety briefing including boat checks, picking up a mooring, anchoring, recovering person overboard, close quarter handling, high speed handling, use of GPS and compass 

The course is delivered on the water using both high speed RIB's (Rigid Inflatable Boats powered by outboard engines) and displacement vessel  (traditional hull form powered by diesel engine) providing experience in the very different handling characteristics of these two types of craft.

LOCATION 
The location for the course is at Newhaven Marina 

WHAT TO BRING 
For each Saturday a packed lunch will be required. 
Bring a complete change of clothing and a towel,  a water proof outer layer and a dry suit( if you have one) and flat shoes that don’t mind getting wet
