The club runs many courses in various aspects of water sports activities as a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognised Training Centre. Activities focus around Piddinghoe Pond inland water for dinghy sailing and windsurfing and from Newhaven Marina into Seaford Bay for power boating and keelboats. Classroom based courses such as RYA First Aid and VHF Radio are run at the Club's Seaford Beach Club House.
The training centre uses Topper Sport 14s for its dinghy training and these stable roomy boats have proved to very popular with newcomers to sailing. Students may choose after a few weeks to sail single handed in Laser Picos. Power boat training takes place in the club's safety fleet of outboard powered RIBs and our 24ft diesel engined displacement boat 'Ark' providing experience in handling both of these very different type of craft. Keelboat sail training can take place in a variety of members' boats.
As an RYA certified Training Centre we award certificates on behalf of the RYA in dinghy, keelboat, windsurfing, power boating and Instructors courses.
Regular training for the under 19's is carried out on Monday and Thursday
evenings during the summer and described seperately on the Club's Cadet
